The thoughts of a millennial
We travel. We love but most of all we leave an impression. Who do we effect? I would say everyone we come into contact with. Correction: we have the potential to impact anyone. How? I’d say a simple smile, or a full on discussion will do it. When I realized this, and how a detail could change someone’s day, that’s when I “woke up”. I’m aware now. The next step? Improve my interactions with others. It’s hard for me. I quickly forget the force we all have.
People near me have had an impact on me. Strangers have had an impact on me. Cities, movies, songs, books, every moment has impacted my life in some way. People I know roll their eyes at me. They scoff, and the disapproval over my words and thoughts is evident without them having to speak a word. “Your generation” is thrown out a lot. At family reunions, at the grocery store, over the internet. Here goes nothing — my “generation” is not defined by one definition. The fact is we are all so diverse. People cling to an idea and box others up, because you prefer labels. It’s clear cut and easy. Truth is none of us fit into a perfect box. If you do, you probably created the box and forced it upon others in order not to feel lonely.
Experience each person with an open mind. Be aware of the impact you may have on someones life. Of course it’s a challenge, I know. I struggle with this everyday. It’s so easy to fall into a not caring attitude and perspective. However, we all need that light in our life. Imagine being that sparkle in someone else’s.
My final thoughts
Remember to be kind to one another. We all need to learn to here each other out. All things considered, we are all connected in some way or another. No doubt we need to be loving towards people.
