What are the positive connotations of being labeled a millennial? For some reason, every time I hear someone mention a millennial it’s followed by a negative comment. I always remind myself, in moments like those, that it might not end positively if I decide to speak up. Defend generation Y. At the end of the day, it’s a label. There might be some truth to the stereotype for some people. I’ll dive into that subject on another blog post.
Today I want to introduce this series (I know, anotha one). For the last 3 years I have paid close attention to what friends, family, colleagues, the media, and stranger’s think about millennials. So, embracing the label, I want to talk about my experiences that are “so millennial”, and guess what? It’s not a bad thing.
My first day in college, I asked myself what I was going to do with my life. I struggled, and I still struggle with the thought. I’m young, I have the challenge and opportunity to create a future and life I’ll be excited for. I recently took a huge leap into what I believe is the first step to the life I want to live. I quit my first corporate job, and now it’s time to pursue my passions: writing, baking, learning, all things beauty, and everything in between. I have no idea how this will end, but I’m happy. I’m not waiting around for the clock to strike 5, in order to get home to rest for the next day. A cycle that I don’t want to live for the next 40+ years. Let’s see how this new phase in my life plays out. Positive vibes.
