How We Met: The Story of Us
There’s this guy I’m really into. You know what’s cool? He’s totally into me too. Johnathon and I met on a cold November night — I was scrolling through Tinder, swiping left, swiping right. We matched. “Hey how are you?”. We texted back and forth for a couple of days. We sent each other videos, and finally, 9 days after we “matched”.
Let me preface this day by saying I was living at a hotel the week we were going to meet up. There was a storm and the electricity stopped working at home. Therefore, a week in a hotel commenced. Because of the storm, our first date was postponed.
We had plans to meet at the DMA, and then go to Smoke. We still haven’t done this. We met up at a coffee shop, Zenzero, and just like two awkward penguins — we talked straight for two hours. He was even late for work, but if you ask him, it was worth it. We seriously texted novels to each other. Face timing each other until 5am. Constantly talking.
I don’t think it’s odd the way we met. The more we talked about our lives, we realized we might have passed each other so many times. We lived in the same city for a couple of years. We even went to the same school for a year before we met. At UNT, I always hung out in the art building and that’s exactly where all of his classes were.
It’s funny thinking back to the first time we met. The first couple of months. I enjoyed those moments, but when we are together now, it is so much better. All I can hope for is that it continues to get better the more we get to know each other.
