Make-up free at work, what’s your take on it?
Let’s talk about being make-up free in the workplace. There’s a stigma against it. Why? Seriously. Since when does my appearance affect my efficiency at work? It’s ridiculous because it shouldn’t be looked down upon. If I want to wear makeup 24/7 that’s fine, because it’s my decision. However, feeling bad about going makeup free at work is insane. My favorite part about working remotely was that everyday I just got up and concentrated on working. I didn’t worry about what my co-workers or higher ups would think. The issue isn’t just with other people though. The fact is it’s ingrained into our brains. Our way of thinking.
- It doesn’t negatively effect how I perform at work
- Just because it’s the norm doesn’t mean it’s a must
- Why are we so caught up in the way we look
My thought is we should be more worried about how we treat others, and what impact we are creating in our communities. What sucks the most is that the bad vibes you get for not wearing makeup to work. The workplace is not a beauty pageant, and guess what? I actually feel beautiful with and without makeup. That’s what I want to stress the most. If you feel comfortable and happy with the way you look, continue to do you. I’m the kind of person who will love a full glam one day and for the next 30 days, I flop between no makeup, just mascara and brows, and light make up. That’s when you get the “ooooh where are you going tonight?” comments or “omg you look so pretty today”.
I love beautiful souls
Have you ever been around someone who just makes you feel good? Be one of those people. Let’s break the stigma and the standard. We should be empowering each other versus being in competition. How do you feel about workplace standards? Especially when it comes to women.
