Mad Batter Bakery
If you know me, you know I love bakeries. I love baking, and I love eating baked goods. Even though I’m inclined to eating cakes when I want dessert, I really do appreciate a great pastry/dessert. I would like to qualify pastries in a couple of categories: moistness, presentation, and flavor. However, I want to start off this review with the feel of the actual location. It’s in a quiet neighborhood in Addison Circle. Mad Batter Bakery is easy to spot, and it’s also roomy inside. You won’t feel claustrophobic there. It’s a cute shop. Besides having baked goods available, they also serve coffee & more. A breakfast menu & also doggy treats, you can basically get away with eating breakfast and dessert there, and still get your fur baby a treat.
They have a wide variety of desserts.
Brownies, cupcakes, pies, cheesecake, muffins, cookies, pastries (e.g., croissants), and more. I have been to this bakery two times. I got cupcakes for my family and a cinnamon roll. The presentation was good overall (4 out of 5). It’s great that the bakery serves a variety of goodies. Moistness in my cupcakes was a 4.5 out of 5. The cupcake will melt in your mouth. Flavor wise I would give it a 3 out of 5. Let me preface with the cupcakes weren’t gross. For my liking, they were a bit too sweet. The flavors that the cupcakes claimed to be weren’t spot on. Let’s take the cookies and cream cupcake. It tasted like a chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing on top. It was still good, but not exactly what I was looking for.
I don’t want to discourage anyone from visiting this bakery. Try it out yourself. I would honestly go back as well. The more cupcakes and treats I try from Mad Batter Bakery, the clearer picture I will have of the shop. I hope you all enjoyed this review.
