Jenny Layne Bakery Review
Firstly, I want to say that I’m not trying to bash any bakery or coffee shop I review. I just want to be honest. Just like my blog post on Mad Batter Baker. For instance, I didn’t really enjoy the cupcakes I had at mad batter. They weren’t gross, but the flavor simply wasn’t there. Here is the deal with The Jenny Layne Bakery. Presentation wise, the cupcakes were gorgeous. The frosting was so yummy. Let’s get to the big NO! The texture and the flavor. The cupcakes felt a bit elastic. A very odd texture, dare I say, Spongebob texture. You know what I mean?
Next is the flavor. Just like Mad Batter, some of the cupcakes didn’t taste how they were supposed to taste. For example, the cinnamon swirl just tasted like a vanilla cupcake. Another thing I want to point out is that the cupcakes didn’t taste that much differently than a “let’s make some cupcakes with my nephew” type of cake. I might be expecting too much from a cupcake, but hey that’s just me.
I really really wish I liked this bakery & cupcake(s). This section on my blog seems to be a downer, since the first two bakeries I reviewed weren’t all that. Onward and upward, right?
What bakery should I visit next?
P.S. I’ll be sharing my favorite homemade vanilla cupcake recipe soon. Stay tuned!
