How To Prepare For A Trip
I’m writing this as I am waiting on my plane to board for NYC. With a headache and slightly unprepared for a city I have never been to, I want to give myself some future advice.
- Pack Lightly. I’m the kind of person who wants to have 3 different outfit changes, just in case. I pack for theoretical situations. But it’s tough. My luggage is always heavy and I almost never actually need everything I pack. I can go more into detail on how to pack your back in a later blog post. However this link is super helpful too.
- Plan Your Outfits & Activities. Along with my first point about packing, knowing exactly (or having a general idea) of what you’re going to do on your trip is extremely helpful. That’s how you know what you should pack. If you plan your outfits a couple of days before or even a week or so before, you’ll feel less stressed and prepared. Side note: I would love to do a city guide as I travel more, and will be sure to share my favorite spots. Starting with Texas.
- Transportation. If you’re flying to a new city, remember to book a form of transportation. If that’s a rental car, Uber/Taxi, shuttle, etc. Schedule it.
- Accommodations. I would book the hotel as soon as the flight ticket is booked. Airbnb is such a great option. Especially if you’re traveling with a group of people. Hotels typically have more amenities though. So it really depends on your preference. Rental homes are perfect for families though. Family reunions, weddings, vacations. It’s also a cool option for photoshoots.
